About
Market leader in collaborative design tools with dominant position in UI/UX design space
Figma is a collaborative design platform that revolutionized the way design teams work together on digital products. Founded in 2012 and launched publicly in 2016, Figma operates entirely in the browser, enabling real-time collaboration on interface design, prototyping, and design systems. The platform has become the industry standard for UI/UX design, competing directly with Adobe XD and Sketch. In September 2022, Adobe announced its intention to acquire Figma for approximately $20 billion, one of the largest acquisitions in software history. However, in December 2023, Adobe and Figma mutually agreed to terminate the acquisition due to regulatory challenges from the European Commission and UK Competition and Markets Authority. Figma continues to operate as an independent company under its original leadership, with CEO Dylan Field at the helm. While Figma is not strictly an AdTech company, it plays a significant role in the advertising and marketing technology ecosystem as the primary tool used by creative teams to design digital advertisements, landing pages, marketing campaigns, and brand assets. Design teams at advertising agencies, in-house marketing departments, and AdTech platforms rely on Figma to create and iterate on creative assets that power digital advertising campaigns across various channels.
