Cookie Policy

Effective Date: March 29, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how ATDb (“The AdTech Database”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit theatdb.com.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help websites remember information about your visit, such as your login session or preferences. Some cookies are essential for the site to function; others help us understand how the site is used.

Cookies We Use

These cookies are required for core functionality and cannot be disabled.

Error Monitoring

We use Sentry for error monitoring and performance tracking. Sentry may use localStorage and similar browser storage mechanisms to track error sessions and deduplicate reports. Sentry does not set traditional cookies but may store small amounts of data locally to correlate errors. This data is used solely for diagnosing technical issues and improving service reliability. Sentry is governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Cookies (Feedback)

If you visit the feedback page, the Canny.io widget is loaded to enable feature requests and bug reports. Canny may set its own cookies to manage your session within the feedback widget. These cookies are governed by Canny's Privacy Policy. The Canny widget is only loaded when you actively visit the feedback page.

Cookie Consent

When you first visit ATDb, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the page. You can choose to:

  • Accept All — enables analytics cookies
  • Reject All — blocks analytics cookies
  • Manage — opens a panel where you can toggle individual cookie categories

Your preference is saved in the atdb_cookie_consentcookie and remembered for one year. You can change your preference at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer of any page.

Analytics Services

We use Google Tag Manager (GTM-5M95966G) to manage our analytics tags. GTM itself does not set cookies or collect personal data. It loads Google Analytics 4, which collects aggregated usage data including pages visited, session duration, device information, and approximate geographic location. No additional marketing or advertising tags are currently loaded through GTM.

We also use PostHog for product analytics and session replay. PostHog collects usage data including pages visited, clicks, scroll depth, and records anonymized browsing sessions to help us understand how visitors navigate ATDb. Like Google Analytics, PostHog only activates after you grant consent via the cookie banner.

ATDb implements Google Consent Mode v2. Before GTM loads, we set a default consent state of “denied” for analytics storage. This means:

  • Before you consent— no analytics cookies are set. Google may send cookieless pings for conversion modelling, but no personally identifiable information is collected.
  • After you accept analytics— consent is updated to “granted” and Google Analytics operates normally with cookies.
  • If you reject analytics— analytics storage remains denied and no analytics cookies are ever set.

How to Manage Cookies

The easiest way to manage your cookie preferences is to click “Cookie Settings” in the footer of any page. This re-opens the consent banner where you can update your choices.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to your account.

To opt out of specific analytics services, you can:

  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Use your browser's cookie settings to block cookies from google-analytics.com
  • Use your browser's cookie settings to block cookies from posthog.com

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if we add new cookies or change our tracking practices. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
