Unifi Software was a Boston-based data management company that developed an intelligent data catalog and self-service data preparation platform designed to help enterprise data teams discover, understand, and access data across their organizations. Founded in 2014, the company built its platform around machine learning-driven automation that could profile, catalog, and recommend data assets, significantly reducing the time analysts spent searching for and preparing data. Unifi's platform was particularly notable for its ability to connect to a wide variety of data sources and provide business users with governed, self-service access to enterprise data without requiring deep technical expertise. Unifi Software positioned itself in the rapidly growing data catalog and data preparation market, competing with players like Alation, Collibra, and Trifacta. The company differentiated itself through a unified approach that combined cataloging, preparation, and governance capabilities in a single platform, reducing the need for multiple point solutions. Following the acquisition, Unifi's distinct brand and standalone product offering were absorbed into Boomi's portfolio, effectively ending Unifi Software's existence as an independent entity.
