Major identity and access management provider merged with Ping Identity under Thoma Bravo ownership

ForgeRock was a digital identity and access management (IAM) platform provider that served enterprises, governments, and organizations worldwide. The company specialized in providing comprehensive identity solutions including access management, identity governance, directory services, and identity gateway capabilities. In October 2023, ForgeRock was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo and subsequently merged with Ping Identity to create a combined identity security platform. Prior to its acquisition, ForgeRock operated as a publicly-traded company offering both cloud-based and on-premises identity management solutions. The platform was designed to help organizations manage digital identities across customer, workforce, and IoT use cases, with a focus on scalability and flexibility. ForgeRock's technology was built on open standards and open-source foundations, differentiating it from many proprietary IAM solutions in the market. Following the merger with Ping Identity under Thoma Bravo's ownership, ForgeRock's technology and customer base were integrated into the combined entity. While the ForgeRock brand and products continue to exist within the Ping Identity portfolio, the company no longer operates as an independent entity. The merger created one of the largest independent identity security vendors, combining ForgeRock's customer identity and access management (CIAM) strengths with Ping Identity's workforce IAM capabilities.
