Attribution and measurement saw the highest change volume of any category this week, driven largely by the broader industry conversation around AI measurement standards. The IAB's framework initiative is a direct response to a gap that has been widening for two years: as AI-generated content, AI-optimized bidding, and AI-mediated audience targeting proliferate, the traditional measurement stack — built around human-authored content and deterministic signals — is increasingly inadequate. Advertisers are flying partially blind on what AI-driven impressions and interactions actually produce in terms of downstream outcomes.

The SEO measurement angle is also shifting fast. Search Engine Journal's reporting that AI Mode queries are running three times longer than standard search queries has direct implications for how brands model search-driven attribution. Longer queries signal higher intent but also more complex user journeys, and the current generation of attribution models wasn't built to handle the nuance of AI Overview-mediated discovery. Brands that haven't updated their analytics infrastructure to account for this shift are likely misattributing a growing share of their conversions.
