Snap's flagship AR hardware platform, positioned as a developer-first device to build the AR content and advertising ecosystem ahead of mass-market adoption

Spectacles is Snap Inc.'s line of augmented reality and camera-enabled smart glasses, first launched in 2016 as a novelty camera accessory and evolving significantly through five generations by 2024. The product line began as sunglasses with a built-in circular-lens camera for capturing Snapchat-style content, and has progressively transformed into a serious AR hardware platform. The 5th generation, unveiled in September 2024, features waveguide-based see-through AR displays, a custom Snap OS, and is positioned as a developer-focused device for building AR experiences on the Lens platform.
