The company operated one of the largest affiliate marketing and performance advertising networks in the United States, enabling advertisers to pay only for measurable results such as clicks, leads, or sales. ValueClick's platform connected thousands of advertisers with a broad network of publisher websites, offering a cost-efficient alternative to traditional display advertising.
Over the years, ValueClick expanded its portfolio through strategic acquisitions, adding capabilities in email marketing, comparison shopping, display advertising, and technology services. Key acquisitions included Commission Junction (affiliate marketing), Mediaplex (ad serving technology), Investopedia (content/media), and PriceRunner (comparison shopping). These moves transformed ValueClick from a pure-play CPC network into a diversified digital marketing services company with significant scale across multiple channels.
In 2014, ValueClick rebranded itself as Conversant, Inc., reflecting its evolution toward personalized digital marketing and one-to-one consumer engagement. Shortly after the rebrand, Conversant was acquired by Alliance Data Systems for approximately $2.3 billion. The ValueClick brand is no longer active, but its legacy lives on through the technology and network infrastructure that became the foundation of Conversant's personalized marketing platform.
