About
Pioneer in programmatic video advertising; rebranded to Telaria (2017) and subsequently merged into Magnite (2020), one of the largest independent SSPs globally.
Tremor Video was founded in 2005 in New York City as a video advertising technology company, establishing itself as one of the earliest and most prominent players in the programmatic video advertising space. The company competed directly with contemporaries such as Adap.tv and LiveRail, building a demand-side platform (DSP) and video ad network that served brand advertisers and agencies seeking premium video inventory. Tremor Video went public on the NYSE in 2013, marking a significant milestone for the video AdTech sector and validating the growing importance of programmatic video as a distinct advertising channel. Following its IPO, Tremor Video underwent a strategic transformation. In 2015, the company sold its demand-side business, pivoting away from the buy-side to focus on supply-side and connected TV (CTV) technology. This strategic shift culminated in a full rebrand to Telaria in 2017, signaling a new identity centered on publisher monetization and CTV ad serving. Telaria went on to become a leading supply-side platform (SSP) for CTV publishers, positioning itself at the forefront of the streaming advertising revolution. In April 2020, Telaria merged with Rubicon Project to form Magnite, creating one of the largest independent sell-side advertising platforms in the world. It is important to note that the 'Tremor Video' brand name was separately acquired by Taptica (later rebranded Tremor International, then Nexxen), which represents an entirely distinct corporate lineage. The original Tremor Video Inc. legacy lives on through Magnite, while the brand name itself continued under Nexxen DSP following Nexxen's June 2023 rebrand.
