Niche holding company with historical AdTech exposure via Grapevine Logic acquisition; now primarily focused on EV and clean energy sectors

Ideanomics (formerly Seven Stars Cloud Group, and before that Wecast Network) is a publicly traded technology holding company that has undergone significant strategic transformations over its history. Originally focused on digital media and content distribution, the company rebranded and shifted focus multiple times before landing on electric vehicles and clean energy as its primary business vertical. In September 2018, under its Seven Stars Cloud Group identity, the company acquired Grapevine Logic, an influencer marketing platform that connected brands with YouTube and social media creators, signaling a brief foray into the AdTech and influencer marketing space. The Grapevine Logic acquisition represented Ideanomics' most direct involvement in the AdTech ecosystem. Grapevine Logic operated as an end-to-end influencer marketing platform, facilitating campaign management, creator discovery, and performance analytics for brand advertisers. However, this AdTech chapter was relatively short-lived as the company subsequently pivoted its strategic focus toward electric vehicle adoption and clean energy infrastructure under the Ideanomics brand. By the early 2020s, Ideanomics had largely divested or wound down its AdTech-related holdings, including Grapevine Logic, and repositioned itself as a facilitator of EV adoption for commercial fleet operators. The company trades on NASDAQ under the ticker IDEA and has pursued acquisitions in the EV charging, financing, and fleet electrification space, making it largely peripheral to the AdTech industry today.
